The keyboards with bars from Honduras Rosewood and Zelon (synthetic) are available in two different tunings: fifth and eighth. Both have different tuning tones, giving them a characteristic sound.

• Affinity for fifths The tuning has a fifth between the fundamental and the double octave for short and penetrating sound required in the large groups. This tuning was used in American xylophones the 1920s and 1930s.
• Affinity by octaves The tuning by octaves has the first overtone two octaves above the fundamental for a clear and brilliant sound and is especially popular in Europe.

Pau Rosa has a clear and sharp sound and is an excellent and affordable alternative to the pink stick of Honduras.
