The alloy
CuSn8 is a unique B8 alloy by Paiste, also known as “bronce 2002” because it was used for the first time for mythical series. Unlike 2002 cymbals PST8 are made with bronze sheets (instead of melting individually) but the alloy used is identical.
Much of the the manufacturing is automated but the hammered finished by hand and Paiste affirms that the tornado is also fully worked by hand; faithful to the swiss precision, the resulting fine swells are absolutely regular, with few deviations (if the there would be) from the central orifice to the edge.
The PST8 are available in Paiste's exclusive reflector finish. Developed for the first time in the 1980s, it is the one that applies to Signature models, and it is much more than just polishing the cymbals, in fact, is a hand-applied treatment that covers the cymbal permanently.
