The history of Castañuelas del Sur begins in a small workshop in Seville in the 60s of the last century and today its instruments are in all corners of the world.
They are the creators of two great innovations: The “double snare drum of resonance”, which contributes to the castanets a more serious sound. AND the “black work gone”, one of the most successful materials for its sound adaptable to all styles. They also included new designs to further facilitate the touch of the castanets.
We can see the castanets of these amazing craftsmen the hands of the greatest professionals and the schools all over the world. Great masters of flamenco and the dance like Antonio El Bailarín, María Rosa, Marienma, Pilar de Oro and Alfredo Gil, Enrique el cojo, Realito, Jose Antonio, Aida Gómez, Matilde Coral and the great concertista of Castañuelas Jose de Udaeta have had in their hands some of the models of Castañuelas del Sur. Also the Spanish National Ballet, the consol Grau, Teresa Láiz and Mar Bezana the they've used in their shows.
